Our Story
Founded on the vision and methodology of Coach Zeze de Moura, Z Junior Tennis Academy has grown into one of Houston’s most respected junior tennis programs. Originally from Brazil, Zeze began his tennis journey at age 10 and later earned a full scholarship to play college tennis at Indian River Community College in Florida. After nearly two decades leading the junior program at the Houston City Club, Zeze became known for his ability to develop young players with discipline, joy, and long-term growth.
Since 2015, Zeze and his wife Liliana de Moura—who directs the academy’s operations and marketing—have worked together to build a junior program that continues to thrive even through challenges like the City Club’s closure and the pandemic. What began as a single-coach program is now a team-driven academy with a growing staff of passionate, experienced professionals dedicated to player development.
While Coach Zeze continues to lead the program and serve as the Head Coach for the Boys Varsity Team at St. John's School, Z Junior Tennis Academy is more than one coach. Our success today reflects the contributions of a talented and growing team who are trained in Zeze’s methodology and committed to fostering excellence at every level.
Now based at the Blanton Tennis Center at St. John's School and in River Oaks, Houston, our academy offers year-round training, seasonal camps, and competitive pathways for players of all ages and abilities. Many of our students have gone on to play at the college level, a reflection of the strong foundation built by our coaches and families working together.
Join us as we continue to build not just great players—but confident, disciplined, and inspired young people through the game of tennis.
